Noah Wyle and Shawn Hatosy may play head honchos of the day-and-night shifts on HBO Max’s The Pitt, but their real-life connection goes way back since they appeared in another medical drama, ER, together in the 2000s. The pair have maintained a longtime professional relationship in real life, but fans are suddenly raising eyebrows after Noah spoke about his castmate during a recent interview.
While chatting with Deadline, Noah praised most of The Pitt’s up-and-coming actors for signing on to small projects and stage productions on Broadway, even after starring on the hit series.
“I mean, how often do you get an ensemble that the second they get their first breath of freedom, after they get their first breath of fame, go not to do the million dollar horror movie, but go right back to the Broadway stage or go work on their chops as performers?” Noah said, uplifting screen partners like Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, and Sepideh Moafi.
He added, “Like, that speaks to the sensibility of this cast. I can’t say enough about it.”
Fans think he may have been making a dig at Shawn, who recently starred in the horror movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. The sequel reportedly grossed $39.5 million globally when it hit theaters in March.
The fan base is seemingly divided over what’s really going on here, as one wrote, “He can’t go a single second without talking complete bullshit,” and another added, “Watch the whole clip he gave him a compliment.”
Another pointed out that Shawn isn’t the only Pitt star who made the move to horror movies, adding that Fiona Dourif and Tracy Ifeachor recently starred in projects within the genre. “3 of his costars have done horror recently btw (fiona, shawn, tracy),” they wrote.

So, are Noah and Shawn really beefing? It seems like he just made a comment that was taken out of context, especially since the pair seems friendly offscreen.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the season 2 premiere, Shawn said, “We’ve definitely known each other a long time. We’re both the old guys [on the cast], so, it’s like, you know…we sort of have that long-ended tooth going through the world.”
Take it all with a grain of salt, but it seems like there’s no real bad blood here.
