A strong line of storms moved through overnight. It has left thousands in Northeast Pennsylvania without power.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — A strong line of storms rolled across Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania overnight.

Pennelec is reporting nearly 9,000 outages across Pennsylvania with a majority of them in Northern Wayne County.  A statement on their website says, ” We are aware severe weather is causing power outages in your area. Estimated restoration times will be available once crews assess damage. More specific updates about your outage restoration will be provided as details become available. We appreciate your patience.”

PPL and Claverack are also reporting over 1,000 outages in their coverage areas. 

Several school districts in the affected areas have two-hour delays including Wyalusing Area, Elk Lake including Susquehanna CTC, and Susquehanna Community School.

The National Weather Service has also received more than a dozen reports of storm damage across our area.
