Pen Marudhar secured the all-India theatrical distribution rights for the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan action film, King, for an estimated Rs. 250 crore on April 20, 2026. The high-budget production, directed by Siddharth Anand, features a prominent cast including Deepika Padukone and Suhana Khan.
The acquisition marks a significant investment for the distributor, which maintains a consistent partnership with the actor’s production house. Bollywood Hungama reports that the film carries an approximate production budget of Rs. 400 crore and is positioned as a major 2026 release.
“Pen Marudhar have acquired the theatrical distribution rights of King for a sum of Rs. 250 crores. The distributor has a long-standing association with Shah Rukh Khan’s banner, having released films like Jawan, Dunki, Zero, Badla, Ittefaq, and many more,” stated a trade source to Bollywood Hungama.
The deal followed an intense bidding period involving major industry players such as Jio Studios, Yash Raj Films, and Dharma Productions. This agreement reflects continued confidence in the theatrical market following the commercial success of the actor’s previous projects, Pathaan and Jawan.
“Shah Rukh Khan was looking for a strong distribution partner to navigate the competitive window, and he is looking at a wide theatrical release across India,” a trade source told Bollywood Hungama regarding the strategic partnership.
The film is scheduled for a wide domestic release on December 24, 2026. The theatrical debut will coincide with several major international productions, including Dune 3 and Avengers: Doomsday, during the competitive Christmas holiday season.
