Police warn of venomous wildlife washing ashore in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Police warned of venomous wildlife and marine vegetation washing ashore in Myrtle Beach.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department advised that organisms can still sting on land, telling beachgoers to alert first responders so that they can dispose of the organism.

The department says that if someone is stung, they should remove the tentacles as quickly as possible and apply vinegar to the affected area to deactivate the stinging cells.

Beachgoers are advised to monitor the sting site and seek assistance from lifeguards, ocean rescue or medical personnel if needed.

While police issued the warning, they did not name specific wildlife or vegetation.
