The chain is giving away a free steak-and-cheese melt on May 6 to a lucky group as an homage to the company’s president.
WASHINGTON — Hey, Mike! Don’t forget that Wednesday, May 6, is your chance at a free Firehouse Subs sandwich.
If your name is Michael, Mikey, Miguel, Mikaela, Michelle, Michele, Michaela or some other variation of it – you’re also good for a free sandwich.
The freebie is a medium steak and cheese melt and is available at participating locations, Firehouse Subs said in a news release.
Is Mike not your first name? Firehouse Subs said as long as it’s on your ID “you’re official.” Mikes may be asked to show their ID to get the sandwich.
“The Mikes are getting their moment, but the sub is for everyone,” the company’s social media commented on Instagram.
Why Mike? The company’s president is named Mike Hancock. PEOPLE reported the name selection is also a jab at sandwich competitor Jersey Mikes.
“We’re proud of this sub – the prime rib, the caramelized onions, the top-cut roll. Once people try it, we think it earns its place among the best steak subs out there,” said Mike Hancock, president of Firehouse Subs. “Sharing it with every Mike in America felt like a great way to kick things off.”
The sandwich comes on a top cut roll with provolone, brown sugar caramelized onions, and red and green bell peppers and flame-seared prime rib, according to the press release.
The deal is exclusive to participating locations within the United States and only on May 6. There are more than 1,200 locations across the U.S. The deal does not include locations in Canada, even though some accounts reposted the announcement video.
