There are plenty of new faces on and off the court in Running Point season 2.
The Netflix sports comedy series from creators Elaine Ko, Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen returned on April 23 with Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) preparing to embark on her sophomore season as president of the fictional Los Angeles Waves basketball team.
After their heartbreaking playoff loss at the end of season 1, Isla now has her eyes set on securing a championship victory for the Waves — and will do whatever it takes to get there.
Supporting Isla and the Waves on their quest toward winning it all are many familiar faces from season 1, including her fiancé Lev Levenson (Max Greenfield), her best friend Ali Lee (Brenda Song) and her brothers, Sandy (Drew Tarver), Ness (Scott MacArthur) and Jackie (Fabrizio Guido).
Waves players Marcus Winfield (Toby Sandeman) and Travis Bugg (Chet Hanks) also return in season 2, plus several brand new characters (and celebrity cameos!).
Here’s a breakdown of every new cast member joining Running Point season 2.
Ray Romano as Norm Stinson

Ray Romano joins the Running Point season 2 cast as Norm Stinson, a socially awkward basketball expert who becomes the Waves’ new head coach. Norm takes over the team after the previous head coach, Jay Brown (portrayed in season 1 by Jay Ellis), returns to the East Coast to be closer to his family.
Isla goes rogue with the hiring of Norm, selecting him over her brothers’ flashier pick, a hot-shot college coach named Danny Pierce. But despite the doubt from her family and the media, Isla has faith that Norm’s vision will help the Waves win a championship.
Just like Norm wasn’t the original pick for the Waves’ head coaching job, Romano was not originally cast to portray Norm in the Netflix series. Robert Townsend was initially cast in the recurring role; however, Netflix shifted directions in October 2025 and recast Romano as Norm, Deadline reported. With the Emmy winner on board, the role of Norm was reimagined and reshoots took place in the fall of 2025.
“Oh, I love him! He is so wonderful,” Hudson said of Romano to Entertainment Tonight after the casting shake-up was announced. “We are so lucky to have him and we are having a great time.”
Running Point marks a return to Netflix for Romano: the Everybody Loves Raymond star appeared opposite Lisa Kudrow in the series No Good Deed in December 2024.
Ken Marino as Al Fleischman

Ken Marino portrays Al Fleischman — the self-appointed “toilet king of Orange County” — in season 2 of Running Point.
Marino’s character continuously pesters Isla and the Waves for better courtside seats. But when she won’t move him from under the basket to center court with the A-listers, the so-called “Flush Man” tries his luck with Cam.
With Fleischman willing to pay any price, Cam sees the opportunity to use the toilet king to his benefit.
Marino previously appeared on Netflix’s The Residence, as well as in movies such as Wanderlust, Role Models and Wet Hot American Summer.
Blake Anderson as Leroy

Comedian Blake Anderson plays the character of Leroy in the second season of Running Point. Leroy is Cam’s not-so-sober companion from rehab who is by his side as he schemes to take back his role as president of the Waves.
Anderson is best known for his role on Workaholics and has also appeared in other popular sitcoms, including Community, Arrested Development and Parks and Recreation.
Aliyah Turner as Zoé Debay

Aliyah Turner joins the Running Point cast as Zoé Debay, a former child star who’s on the cusp of becoming an A-list actress. But the celeb causes problems for the Waves — both on the court and in the locker room — after Dyson starts dating her following a break-up with Travis.
Turner announced her casting in the Netflix series on her Instagram. “RUNNING POINT Season 2 coming soon… and I cannot wait for you all to meet Zoé Debay✨All glory to God💗,” she wrote alongside the post.
Prior to Running Point, Turner has been seen in the STARZ series Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.
Tommy Dewey as Magnus

Isla must also contend with Magnus, played by Tommy Dewey, in the second season of Running Point.
Dewey’s character is the general manager of the Toronto Trappers — and is known as the “poacher” for his ability to steal other teams’ talent. When he shows up in L.A., Magnus has his eyes on one of the Waves’ top assets.
Running Point marks a reunion for Dewey and series creator Kaling; the two previously worked together on the first season of The Mindy Project. Dewey is also known for his role in Hulu’s Casual.

Aruna, played by Richa Moorjani, is the Waves’ star accountant who can manage any financial fiasco — and with the Gordon family, there are plenty.
Moorjani and Kaling previously worked together when the former starred in the latter’s Netflix series Never Have I Ever. She also appeared on episodes of The Mindy Project.
Moorjani announced the reunion on her Instagram, writing, “🏀 🥰 back in my happy place on another @mindykaling show.”
Jake Picking as Tommy White

With the Waves seeking a championship, Ness secures star point guard Tommy White, played by Jake Picking, in a trade from Nashville to the Waves. But while in L.A., White seems to have his eyes on a different prize — Sandy.
Picking joins season 2 of Running Point after appearing on the 2022 Showtime series The First Lady and the film Top Gun: Maverick the same year.
He also portrayed Rock Hudson in the Ryan Murphy series Hollywood.
Ike Barinholtz as Benny Gordon

Running Point co-creator Barinholtz jumps from behind the camera to an on-screen role in season 2. He makes a recurring appearance as cousin Benny, adding to the complicated Gordon family dynamics.
For Barinholtz, appearing in the sports comedy comes close to fulfilling his childhood ambitions. “My dream probably would’ve been to play basketball, but I just wasn’t good enough,” he previously told PEOPLE.
Prior to his guest role on Running Point, Barinholtz’s most recent acting work can be seen in Apple TV’s The Studio. He is also known for appearing in The Mindy Project and Eastbound and Down.
Octavia Spencer as Diane Robicheaux

Octavia Spencer has a guest spot in season 2 of Running Point as Diane Robicheaux, a civil rights attorney and feminist legal scholar who represents the Waves dancers when they go on strike.
Hudson and Spencer have previously acted together on the Apple TV series Truth Be Told. The Academy Award winning actress is also known for her roles in films such as The Help, Hidden Figures and The Shape of Water.
Nicole Richie as Nicole Vark

Nicole Richie appears in a guest role on season 2 of Running Point as Nicole Vark, the head of Vark Pharmaceuticals. Isla and Ali know Nicole from college, and when they need a new sponsor for the Waves’ stadium, Isla tries to cash in a favor with her former sorority sister.
Richie, who rose to fame in the early 2000s on The Simple Life, has appeared in both reality television and scripted series. Prior to her guest spot on Running Point, she reunited with her Simple Life costar Paris Hilton in 2024 for Paris & Nicole: The Encore.
Scott Speedman as Luke McShay

Season 2 of Running Point has Scott Speedman guest starring as Luke McShay, whose family owns the L.A. Snowcats hockey team. The McShays and Gordons have decades of tension that comes to a head in a family basketball scrimmage (with big stakes on the line).
The Grey’s Anatomy star most recently appeared in the lead role of the new ABC and Hulu series RJ Decker, which premiered on March 3. He’s also known for his work on Felicity, Underworld and Animal Kingdom.
