Game 1 of a best-of 3 essentially.

The two games the Spurs have won required otherworldly production from Victor Wembanyama in Game 1 (including an extraordinary game-tying 3 in the final minute of overtime) and then the worst scoring game from the Thunder in four years in Game 4.

The Spurs are outscoring the Thunder by 50 points in Wembanyama’s minutes. The Thunder are outscoring the Spurs by 46 points when Wembanyama is off the floor.

I feel like Wembanyama is capable of another untouchable display.

But I also feel like the Thunder are more likely to play towards a practical standard more than once.

The biggest challenge for the Thunder is being able to get to that standard while making up for the absences of both Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell.

They need Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to handle Stephon Castle’s point of attack pressure better, for Chet Holmgren to participate more offensively, and for the other ball handlers and shooters to be somewhere between adequate and good after they were all mostly awful Sunday in Texas.
