Lauren Laverne issued an apology live on air during Friday’s episode of The One Show
The One Show presenter Lauren Laverne found herself having to apologise during the latest broadcast.
Lauren, alongside her co-host Angellica Bell, welcomed the ensemble cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 onto the famous green sofa on Friday (April 24).
Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Simone Ashley left audiences speechless as they arrived at the studio to discuss the much-awaited follow-up film.
During the chat, Emily accidentally swore when the presenters unveiled Bridgerton actress Simone’s newest venture.
“Simone, we’ve loved your acting since Bridgerton – we’re huge fans of yours. But I know that you’ve got a new project coming up, which is actually music related. What’s happening?” Lauren enquired, reports the Mirror.
Simone enthusiastically responded: “Yeah, I just released my first EP two weeks ago!”
A taken-aback Emily exclaimed: “Did you?!” before blurting out: “B****y hell!”
The 43-year-old actress immediately recognised her slip-up, remarking: “Oh sorry, shouldn’t have said that. They actually said keep it clean!”
Lauren subsequently addressed the audience, stating: “Well, little apology for any fruity language that you might have heard. I think this clip is clean,” before a sample of Simone’s latest track was played in the studio.
BBC audiences were thrilled to witness the film’s cast grace the green sofa, with numerous people flocking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their enthusiasm.
“Wow. Top billing on the sofa tonight. I truly can’t believe it,” one viewer posted. Another viewer exclaimed: “No frigging wayyyyyyy all leading cast of Devil Wears Prada 2, goes to show it’s worth checking sometimes who’s on.”
A third remarked: “What a brilliant sofa full of actors on #TheOneShow tonight. They’ve obviously had a ball doing the promo. The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be on my list to go and see.”
A fourth enthusiast mirrored the excitement, commenting: “The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast are really showing up for this press tour,” while another simply declared: “Iconic sofa.”
Helmed by David Frankel and penned by Aline Brosh McKenna, the follow-up to the 2006 hit sees Andy making her way back to Runway magazine while Miranda grapples with the evolving media world and the publication’s place in it.
The pair are poised to reunite with Emily, another former assistant, who now leads a high-end brand with the financial clout that could secure Runway’s future.
The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm, while The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be released in cinemas on May 1
