WISCONSIN — Several Wisconsin public high schools reported average SAT scores near or above 1,400 in Niche’s latest college prep ranking.

Niche’s 2026 “Best College Prep Public High Schools in Wisconsin” ranking compares public schools based on factors including graduation rates, AP enrollment, state test scores and the quality of colleges students consider.

The company notes that SAT and ACT scores were removed from this year’s ranking formula to reflect the broader de-emphasis on test scores in the college admissions process. However, Niche still lists average SAT scores for many schools included in the ranking.

Here are Wisconsin public high schools with the highest average SAT scores listed by Niche:

  1. Waukesha Engineering Preparatory Academy, Waukesha
    Average SAT: 1490
  2. Reagan College Preparatory High School, Milwaukee
    Average SAT: 1450
  3. Brookfield Central High School, Brookfield
    Average SAT: 1410
  4. Brookfield East High School, Brookfield
    Average SAT: 1390
  5. West High School, Madison
    Average SAT: 1390
  6. Middleton High School, Middleton
    Average SAT: 1380
  7. Vel Phillips Memorial High School, Madison
    Average SAT: 1380
  8. Nicolet Union High School, Glendale
    Average SAT: 1370
  9. Homestead High School, Mequon
    Average SAT: 1360
  10. Shorewood High School, Shorewood
    Average SAT: 1360
  11. Menomonee Falls High School, Menomonee Falls
    Average SAT: 1360
  12. Eisenhower Middle/High School, New Berlin

Waukesha Engineering Preparatory Academy had the highest average SAT score listed among those schools, at 1490.

Reagan College Preparatory High School in Milwaukee had the second-highest average SAT score listed, at 1450. Brookfield Central High School followed at 1410.
