Travis Kelce isn’t the first one to pick up on a pregnancy announcement.

The 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end admitted he didn’t understand the first time his older brother, Jason Kelce, told him that he and wife Kylie Kelce were expecting their first child.

On the Wednesday, April 22, episode of Travis and Jason’s New Heights podcast, their social media director Jake Chatzky, nicknamed “Jets Jake,” shared the news that he and his wife were expecting their first child.

Jake had his wife call into the show asking the brothers what to do to prepare their future child for a lifetime of Jets disappointment. Jason immediately understood that the caller was Jake’s wife, while it took a moment for Travis to connect the dots.

“I’m always, like, three days late on, like, figuring out what the f— just happened,” Travis admitted.

Travis shared the story of how Jason, 38, and Kylie, 34, revealed they were expecting their first child when they gifted him a humidor with baby socks.

“I’m over here opening a humidor, there’s, like, two boots, and I’m, like, why the f— are there, like, baby socks?” Travis recalled. “And then I look up at Kylie. I’m like, ‘Thanks for the humidor, but what the f— are these?’ ”

Of course, Travis has since gotten plenty of practice as an uncle as he is now the proud uncle of Jason and Kylie’s four daughters — Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finn, 1.

Despite his initial confusion, Travis has proven himself to be the fun uncle. Back in January 2025, Kylie dubbed the NFL star the “king of the funcles” on her Not Gonna Lie podcast.

Kylie told PEOPLE in February 2023 that Travis is “the absolute best uncle you can imagine,” adding, “Jason said in an interview that he thinks [the girls] might like him more than they like Jason.”

“I tell everybody, he comes to our house to visit and the poor guy doesn’t sit on the couch because our daughters will be like, ‘No, no, you sit on the floor. We’re gonna do a puzzle. We’re gonna build blocks. We’re gonna do this, we’re gonna do that,’ ” she said at the time.

Kylie also told PEOPLE that Travis had a particular soft spot for his eldest niece, Wyatt.

Kylie recalled telling her brother-in-law “Trav, you know you can tell Wyatt no,” but he told her, ” ‘Yeah, I don’t think I can.’ And so he will do it [anyway].”
