Paramount Pictures announced on Wednesday that Heart of the Beast, its new survival thriller film directed by David Ayer and starring Brad Pitt, J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe, will release in theaters on September 25.
The film will open against Forgotten Island, a DreamWorks title starring Dave Franco and Jenny Slate, and a re-release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.
Written by Cameron Alexander, Heart of the Beast follows a former Army Special Forces Soldier and his retired combat dog who battle for survival after a plane crash deep in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness.
The project reunites Pitt and Ayer for the first time since Fury, their 2014 WWII drama for Sony, and comes following Pitt’s starring role in the Oscar-nominated Apple flick F1.
Producers on the project included Olivia Hamilton, Marty Bowen, Ayer and Pitt. Exec producers included Damien Chazelle, Scott Lumpkin, Cameron Alexander, Chris Long, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, Sophie Cassidy, and Zack Conroy.
