Michael Carrick has made five changes to the Man Utd team to play Sunderland and one of those absent is Casemiro as he nears the end of his Old Trafford career.

Casemiro is missing from the Manchester United squad to face Sunderland after picking up a minor injury, but he is set to be fit enough to be back for his Old Trafford farewell.

The Brazilan is in the final weeks of his United career and his absence from the squad at the Stadium of Light set alarm bells ringing, but he hasn’t played his final game for the club.

United expect Casemiro to be fine to face Forest next Sunday and then Brighton a week later, with just two games remaining now in his United career before he leaves the club on a free transfer.

His absence has left Carrick short in midfield, with Manuel Ugarte also out after picking up a knock in training. Mason Mount has come in for his first start of the Carrick era.

Benjamin Sesko also misses out, having failed to shake off a persistent shin injury in time to take his place in the side. Joshua Zirkzee replaces Sesko for his first start under Carrick.
