  • Chet Hanks has relocated to a Nashville RV park.
  • In a recent interview, he explained he chose an RV over an apartment to avoid furnishing a new place.
  • His parents, Tom and Rita Hanks, are known to spend a significant time in Nashville.

Chet Hanks is living in a Nashville RV park while pursuing a country music career.

The actor, model and musician shared the news during a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where he was promoting season two of the Netflix comedy “Running Point.” Hanks said the decision came after a road trip during which he stayed in an Airstream trailer.

“I really loved it,” said the 35-year-old son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. “I was like, man, I want one of these, I want to get one of these. So I did. I got a trailer.”

Something Out West, the duo of Hanks and Drew Arthur, released their EP “Leaving Hollywood” in June 2025 after signing with Big Machine Records, a Nashville-based label.

Here’s what else to know.

Why Chet Hanks relocated to a Nashville RV park

Hanks said he opted against getting an apartment in Nashville because he had just finished furnishing his condo in Los Angeles and didn’t want to start over.

“I was, like, staying in Airbnb’s and hotels,” said the actor. “And that gets really old because I just like having my own space.”

However, he isn’t staying in his dream trailer yet. Instead, he’s residing in a Jayco Eagle, which has a kitchen and a walk‑in shower — a big selling point, he added.

“I got my kitchen. I got a walk-in shower. That’s a big deal with trailers, if it’s a walk-in shower, because sometimes they combine the toilet and shower,” he joked. “It’s called a wet bath.”

Hanks joked he’s likely the youngest resident in the RV park by several decades, surrounded mostly by retirees. While he’s embraced the RV lifestyle, complete with a fire pit and campfire outside his trailer, he added that he mostly enjoys doing what he normally does at home, which is staying inside and watching Netflix.

Do Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson live in Nashville?

Wilson and Hanks are frequent visitors to the city.

As previously reported by The Tennessean, Rita began co‑writing songs in Music City in 2013, and the city has played a large role in her musical growth, she said.

She’s performed with Dierks Bentley, appeared on a hopeful cancer-battling anthem song with Dolly Parton, toured with Sugarland’s Kristian Bush and Lee Ann Rimes, presented an award at the CMAs and sang on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

She also has enjoyed dip cones from Bobbie’s Dairy Dip, hiked in Nashville woods, stayed at the Hermitage Hotel, visited the Parthenon, strolled through shops in Leiper’s Fork, eaten at Adele’s in the Gulch and coveted lakefront homes in Hendersonville.

Meanwhile, Tom visits “quite often,” as he detailed in a 2020 letter to Goodlettsville typewriter collector and repairman Kirk Jackson. He enjoys stopping by Parnassus Books and having coffee across the river.
