Thousands of adjustable dumbbells sold at Walmart stores nationwide have been recalled due to serious injury risks, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Tzumi Electronics is recalling about 50,000 of its FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select 5-52.5-lbs. Adjustable Dumbbells because the weight plates can dislodge from the handle, posing impact injury risks.

The company has received more than 115 reports of weight plates dislodging, including at least six reported injuries involving broken toes, bruises, contusions and lacerations.

The recalled dumbbells have model number 8361 with serial numbers KK23288361 through KK23388361 and KK207608361 through KK21347836. The model number and serial number are printed on the side of the molded plastic storage tray.

The dumbbells were sold in black with red details and include handles, weight plates and a storage tray. The model number and serial number are printed on the side of the storage tray. The name “FitRx” is also printed on the storage tray and on the handles.

The affected products were sold at Walmart stores across the country and online at Walmart.com from January 2024 through November 2024 for around $100.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled dumbbells and contact Tzumi Electronics by phone at 866-363-2237 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by email at smartbellrecall@tzumi.com.

To receive a free replacement of the dumbbell and storage tray, consumers should register for the recall at https://myfitrx.com/recall-52-lbs/. Consumers should write “Recalled” across the tray in permanent marker and dispose of the dumbbells and tray after their registration is confirmed.
