Plainview, Minn. (KTTC) – Yvonne Kruger, 89, has been living in her house in southeast Plainview for 63 years. On Friday, her property gave it all to protect her life from a tornado.
“I heard on TV and I thought I’d better go to the basement,” Kruger said, recalling the moment she learned her home was at the heart of the warning zone. “I didn’t get to the basement and I heard this roar and I dropped to my knees at the end of my kitchen counter.”
Trees throughout her property were snapped in half, her car was upside down, and her garage and pole shed were completely destroyed.
“Everything was around me in the house,” Kruger said. “There was glass all over everything. All I could see was a mess.”
However, there was not a scratch on Kruger.

“My neighbors down there saw it,” she said. “They came up right away to see if I was all right.”
