Actress Eve Plumb released her memoir titled “Happiness Included: Jan Brady and Beyond” on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, following a television appearance on CBS Mornings. The book chronicles her sixty-year career in the entertainment industry, her rise to fame on The Brady Bunch, and her subsequent evolution as a visual artist and entrepreneur.

Plumb secured the role of Jan Brady at age 10 after a brief meeting with creator Sherwood Schwartz and director John Rich, according to the memoir. The casting decision was largely based on her physical resemblance to Florence Henderson, and Plumb did not read a single line of script during the audition process.

The memoir details Plumb’s transition from a child star to a versatile performer with credits in series such as Little Women, Wonder Woman, and The Love Boat. Beyond acting, she studied improv at the Groundlings and developed an all-female sketch comedy show alongside future industry stars like Lisa Kudrow.

Plumb explained her decision to write the book after years of declining requests to contribute to other people’s projects.

“People had been asking me for years for stories to write in their book. And I didn’t ever want to do that. So I finally decided, Well, I’ll write my own book. Because if I was going to tell stories, it was going to be in my book.” said Plumb, Author and Actress.

The actress also addressed the cultural legacy of her character, specifically the famous “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” line from the 1971 episode “In Her Sister’s Shadow.” Plumb noted that while the phrase became a meme further popularized by Saturday Night Live, she personally disliked the parody’s portrayal of her childhood self.

The collaborative writing process with co-author Marcia Wilkie served as a therapeutic experience for Plumb as she reached age 67. The memoir provides an intimate account of her marriage to saxophonist Ken Pace since 1995 and her current business ventures, including a line of 1970s-inspired home goods and coffee.
