As “American Idol” celebrated the iconic music of Disney fairytales, a contestant announced that she’d found her Prince Charming on the show.

In the April 20 “Disney Night” episode, 24-year-old Rae Boyd, who was recently eliminated from the Top 9, made a surprise return to the stage. But she wasn’t back on “Idol” to perform; instead, she hard-launched her relationship with Top 7 contestant Brooks Rosser, 23.

After Brooks sang a stripped-back version of Miley Cyrus‘ “The Climb,” Ryan Seacrest put him on the spot by asking, “Did you connect with anybody? Because I hear you’re a real Prince Charming.”

As Brooks looked at a loss for words, Rae strutted out from backstage and jumped into his arms for a hug.

“The princess is here to claim her prince,” she told Seacrest, who told the audience, “Congratulations, you never know what comes out of ‘American Idol.'”

After the reveal, Brooks pulled Rae in for a hug, and they held hands as they walked backstage.

After the live episode aired, Rae took to her Instagram story to share a photo of herself kissing Brooks’ cheek as he wore a crown atop his head. Brooks also shared Rae’s friend’s Instagram story on his account and wrote, “@raesingz I love you.”

The singers’ budding romance could last outside the show due to their proximity, as they’re both from Maryland. Rae hails from Frederick, while Brooks is from Bel Air almost 80 miles away.

While Rae is pursuing a career as a musician, Brooks was plucked from his job in the healthcare field and thrust into the “Idol” spotlight. He is a dementia med tech who had “no experience playing in front of people” until making it onto the ABC show.
