MADISON, Wis. — Dane County Emergency Management is encouraging residents to plan ahead and stay aware as the county faces the potential for tornadoes, thunderstorms and hail Friday evening.
The county’s outdoor warning sirens will sound if the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Warning or a Severe Thunderstorm Warning that is tagged as “destructive.”
Only sirens in the warning area will be activated, not the entire county. If you hear a warning siren, get indoors and find a safe spot. If you can’t get indoors, lie face-down in a low-lying area and cover your head and neck with your arms. Do not take cover under an underpass or bridge.
