HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Ark.- Community members took to the Arlington lawn in Hot Springs National Park to help celebrate America’s upcoming 250th birthday.

The park is also celebrating its 194th birthday on Saturday, making it the oldest preserved natural park in the Natural State.

Participants were able to learn about both the state’s natural and cultural heritage.

Around 20 organizations, including non-profits, helped celebrate the conservation legacy.

The park’s acting program manager also highlighted Arkansas’s significance to America’s history.

“There’s also a chance to talk about what Arkansas has given to the United States, like what has been our contribution to the American story, and landscape conservation, historic preservation, that’s something that we hold our weight from most states in that regard,” said Cane West, Program Manager at Hot Springs National Park.

If you are interested in getting involved, the event lasts through April 25.
