BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) – A comedy show inspired by the energy of Saturday Night Live and the creativity of Baton Rouge is returning later this month — and it’s sure to knock your socks off.
Mid City Live! is back after a short hiatus. The comedy variety show was first launched in 2023 and combines stand-up comedy, sketch performances, live music, and local talent into one unforgettable night of entertainment.
Founder Gloria McConnell Passman said she wanted to create a platform where local performers could shine while also making sure the people behind the production get paid.
“I wanted to do something different. There’s a lot of local talent here in Baton Rouge, and I thought we should put something together that’s more than just a stand-up showcase,” Passman said. “Something that’s really big, gets a lot of people involved, gets a venue involved, technical crew, so a lot of people are involved in the production, and a lot of people benefit from it, but mostly a lot of people have fun.”
Mid City Live! takes place Friday, May 29, at the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m.
The special guest for the evening has also been revealed: Mayor-President Sid Edwards will appear in the show as one of the featured cast members.
Tickets are available at 225 Theatre Collective’s website.
