While talking with media members hours before the scheduled 8 p.m. EST tip-off, the 25-year-old wing admitted how excited he is to play in front of the Toronto crowd, which is his hometown, according to Sportsnet. Barrett also proclaimed he likes playing on a competitive Raptors team, and seemingly hopes for the best on Thursday night.
“I’m from here, I feel like a little kid today,” said Barrett. “I get to go play, not only in front of fans, but in front of my family and friends. I take pride in it. I’ve always been saying, being here, I want to be on a winning team. For me, I can’t walk around saying, ‘I’m on the Raptors, and we have a terrible record,’ like, that’s embarrassing. But I’m excited just to play in front of the crowd, the fans, family, and friends. It’s gonna be a great night.”
Earning a win would be a thrilling experience for RJ Barrett. It would also be extremely beneficial for the Raptors, too, as the club is down 2-0 in the series to the Cavaliers. Toronto has lost the first two matchups by double digits. So, a win on Thursday night would be a nice turnaround.

This is Barrett’s third season with the Raptors, but it’s his first time in the playoffs with the organization. While he only played 57 games in the regular season, the seven-year veteran has proven to be a reliable option for Toronto. He entered the postseason averaging 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 49.1% from the field and 33.9% from beyond the three-point line.
