United States men’s national soccer team has officially unveiled its 2026 FIFA World Cup roster, featuring a mix of veteran stars and rising young talent ahead of the tournament.
New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani broke out a custom Arsenal thobe for an Eid al-Adha celebration in the Bronx on Wednesday, May 27.
A vocal supporter of the newly-crowned English Premier League champions, Mamdani wore the team’s 2025-26 blue road shirt extended beyond his knees with the club’s crest and Emirates airline sponsor.
“Eid al-Adha reminds us that sacrifice is not a burden,” Mamdani posted on social media. “It is an opportunity to see ourselves as part of something larger. To extend a hand to those who need it most.
“I am honored to be New York City’s first Muslim Mayor and I am determined to lead through solidarity.”
Eid al-Adha comes after Eid al-Fitr, a different holiday that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Arsenal won the Premier League for the first time in 22 years this season and will play against PSG in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday, May 30.
The mayor’s favorite sports teams are on a hot streak in recent weeks with Arsenal winning the title and the New York Knicks advancing to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
