There are six intriguing second-round matches scheduled on day four at at the ATP Hamburg Open with the top seed amongst those in action at the Am Rothenbaum in Germany’s second city. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate, including Alex de Minaur vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, but who will advance to the quarterfinals?
ATP Hamburg Day 4 Predictions
Luciano Darderi vs Yannick Hanfmann
Head-to-head: Darderi 4-0 Hanfmann
Luciano Darderi backed up his semifinal showing in Rome with a straight-sets win over Roman Andres Burruchaga to open his ATP Hamburg account in 2026. It was not his best performance, but he did enough to avoid a third set, which could have been troublesome for the Italian who did not look at his freshest.
Yannick Hanfmann lost a set to fellow German, Max Schoenhaus, but he never looked in serious trouble and was the superior player. Hanfmann recently lost to Darderi in Rome and will be looking to get his first win against the Italian. This is probably his best chance with Darderi potentially fatigued and probably with one eye on the French Open.
Prediction: Hanfmann in 3
Jakub Mensik vs Ignacio Buse
Head-to-head: first meeting
It was an impressive all-round performance from Jakub Mensik in the first round against Jan-Lennard Struff. He served and returned better than the German and also saved all four break points that he faced. Mensik needs a big week here to build some momentum ahead of the second Major of the year, and if he can keep improving his level, he will have a genuine shot at the ATP Hamburg title. Ignacio Buse, meanwhile, upset Flavio Cobolli in the first round and will be full of confidence heading into this match but Mensik’s serve will probably be difficult to break. This match might go the distance, but expect the Czech to come out on top.
Prediction: Mensik in 3
Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Aleksandar Kovacevic
Head-to-head: Auger-Aliassime 2-0 Kovacevic
Last year’s semifinalist, Felix Auger-Aliassime, played a solid match to defeat Vit Kopriva in straight sets and get his ATP Hamburg campaign underway. The Canadian lost very few points behind his serve, and if that part of his game keeps firing, he will be extremely hard to beat this week. Aleksandar Kovacevic took revenge on Arthur Gea, who defeated him in the second round of qualifying. It was a good performance from the Frenchman, but I don’t see him beating the top seed.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 2
