The flood watch, which would begin at 7 p.m. Friday and end at 7 p.m. Monday, applies to these Austin metro area counties: Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop and Caldwell.
San Antonio metro area counties under the flood watch include: Bexar, Bandera, Medina, Comal, Guadalupe, Frio, Kendall and Wilson. Hill Country counties affected include: Burnet, Blanco, Llano, Kerr and Gillespie.
Communities under the flood watch include Austin, Hondo, Bandera, Boerne, New Braunfels, Pearsall, Fredericksburg, Floresville, Llano, Georgetown, Kerrville, Pleasanton, San Antonio, Blanco, Seguin, Gonzales, Bastrop, Karnes City, Giddings, San Marcos, La Grange, Cuero, Burnet, Lockhart and Hallettsville.
The weather service recommended that the public in the flood watch area should monitor storm forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.
Flood watches are issued when conditions that make flooding possible are expected soon, and the public should be prepared to take action. However, a flood warning means flooding in imminent or occurring.
